OMG I LOVE this!!! You haven't changed a day. This is so much fun to watch. I grew up in FLL and I'm sorry I didn't know you then. I missed out for sure. Hey man. Good one for posting this debate… It’s a good one. Mic that I believe achieves both characteristics is in fact the Sennheiser MKH 50. It’s super warm, but very detailed and precise, with truly excellent voice isolation. And takes EQ really well. Highly highly recommended to give it a try.

The U87 is a little clearer sounding but not enough to justify the price difference to me. Plus with the Lauten having better room noise rejection I think the Lauten wins this one for me.

Personally I think there’s so much more mid clarity on the 87. Sorry to say I’m not a fan of the 208. To me it just sounds like a low to medium quality mic. Sorry to say that as I know you are a big fan of it.

U87 sounds so much better. Very nasty peaks in the higher end of the LS-208 🤢

Also, anybody that says, ""I cant hear the difference!" just needs to understand that THEY can't hear the difference. Because there is a difference and its not subtle.

immediately; i heard booth/room on the U87 and not (or at least not noticeable at all on the 208. I dont even think it's close.

208 for the win. The u87ai sounds like a voice through a microphone. The 208 sounds like a voice in the room.

I feel like SDCs are really underutilized for voice/vocal in the studio. The Schoeps CMC641 (super cardioid) is the industry standard indoor boom mic, does it also see use for VO like the MKH 416? There's a Gearspace thread about recording vocals with the CMC64 (cardioid) and CMC621 (wide cardioid) so it obviously works well for some people

Only been watching Chef JP for the last 2 years since my motorcycle accident, off work so trying to take the load off my Mrs….my cooking skills, and dishes, my family say are unreal…. I know this to be true as I get 4 finished plates every meal time !!!! The best chef in the world !!!!

Interesting to see how he's changed his opinion on things over the years. He now says canned beans have improved, and to go ahead and use them. Plus, he says doing those horizontal cuts is a waste of time.

I’ll be perfectly honest with everyone, I can’t stand celebrity chefs or cooking shows. But Chef Jean Pierre is the exception to my rule. His approach to cooking is different. It’s educational and entertaining but best of all there’s no ego trip with him. I watch as many of Chefs videos as I can. Thank you Chef for all your videos 👍

Another interesting change is the idea that cooking the meat on high heat seals in the moisture which has been disproven by another television cook by the name of Alton Brown

It's interesting to see that back then he used butter and olive oil where today he uses clarified butter. I wonder when he made the switch?

Amazing to see the chef when he was much younger and some of the things that have changed like the horizontal cuts on the shallot, I think he doesn't do that in his current videos. Still just as entertaining back then as he is now
